A Legacy of Precision

Since 1947, Radar Engineers has designed and built dependable instruments for locating RFI, Ultrasonic, EMI, and underground faults across critical infrastructure and complex technical environments. Our equipment is used by professionals in electrical utilities, industrial facilities, renewable energy, cable systems, and radio communications, where accuracy and reliability matter most.

Engineered for precision and long service life, our instruments are built to perform in demanding field conditions year after year. Reliability is not simply a claim. It is the standard behind every product we build.

In partnership with The VON Corporation, we continue to advance underground fault location technology, developing durable, efficient solutions for the professionals who maintain critical infrastructure.

The VON Corporation

Founded in 1958 by C.F. von Herrmann, The VON Corporation has built a legacy of innovation in underground cable fault location and high-voltage testing. From introducing the world’s first one-person-portable, air-insulated 100kV DC test set to developing specialized equipment for electric utilities, VON has established a reputation for dependable engineering and practical solutions. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, the family-owned company serves customers worldwide with equipment for underground cable fault locating, high-voltage testing, rubber protective goods testing, aerial device boom current monitoring, and temporary secondary power restoration through its Servisavors® line.

Throughout its history, VON has advanced electrical testing technology through continuous product development. Milestones include the C Series high-voltage DC test equipment, the BI-.35 cable fault locator introduced in the 1970s, and the XF Series Arc Reflection Systems developed in the 1990s. These innovations helped make sophisticated fault location equipment more portable and accessible. In 2006, VON further modernized its rubber goods testing systems through the integration of microprocessor controls, continuing its focus on practical engineering improvements.

With Radar Engineers as part of The VON Corporation, the company continues to expand its capabilities in underground fault location and electrical testing.

Hard-working equipment for hard-working people.

Our Core Values

At Radar, our principles define how we build, think, and operate. They reflect a mindset of precision, endurance, and responsibility. These ideas form the foundation of every instrument we make and every relationship we build.

Precision

We design with intent and clarity. Every instrument, circuit, and interface exists to deliver accuracy in the field and perform exactly as expected.

Reliability

Our work supports the infrastructure that powers modern life. Dependability is built into every design, tested and proven to perform for decades in real-world conditions.

Integrity

We take responsibility for what we create and how we create it. Transparency, honesty, and technical rigor guide our process from design through delivery.

Progress

We evolve with purpose, refining our methods and modernizing our tools to expand what is possible in fault location and interference detection technology.

Meet the Radar Team

We design, build, and support the instruments that utilities and technicians rely on to find and fix interference and underground faults. Our team combines field experience with modern hardware and software engineering to deliver tools that are precise, reliable, and easy to use in the toughest environments.

From product design and manufacturing to customer support and field troubleshooting, we own outcomes end to end. We deliver solutions that let operators act with confidence.
